Also known as Lifter Tick, these tapping and clicking noises may happen because the Hydraulic Lifters aren't being properly lubricated. This is usually caused by a dirty Oil System, low oil level or a wrong oil for the engine. Another reason for Lifter Tick could also be worn or faulty hydraulic lifters.
If the oil system of the engine is known to be properly maintained, use LIQUI MOLY Hydraulic Lifter Additive in the engine oil, to ensure adequate lubrication of the lifters and dampen worn lifters ticking.
