LIQUI MOLY  Solutions: Exhaust Smoke

Traditionally, Diesel engines are expected to smoke (black), although newer engines, better Diesel fuel and additional filters (Diesel Particulate Filter) have change that. Now, for the most part, Diesel engines should not smoke either. In any case, some black smoke from a Diesel engine is expected when accelerating hard, but excessive smoke is unacceptable as its easily corrected and its harmful to the environment and to people.

Excessive Black smoke is produced mainly by inefficient combustion caused by a dirty Diesel fuel system.

Use LIQUI MOLY (pour in the tank) Diesel Fuel treatments to eliminate black smoke and maintain the fuel system clean.

Other Types of smoke:

If exhaust smoke is white and dissipates fast, it can just be water vapour from condensation, but If its excessive, it can indicate that coolant is seeping into the combustion chamber due to gasket failure, and being burned out in the form of steam. In this case it requires immediate attention by a professional Mechanic.

If Exhaust smoke is grey or bluish grey, it means that the engine is burning motor oil. When motor oil finds its way into the combustion chamber, either through dried valve seals or worn cylinder rings, it will burnt out producing a bluish grey smoke. If its excessive, the engine requires immediate attention by a professional Mechanic.

LIQUI MOLY (motor oil additives) can stop or reduce the oil from leaking into the combustion chamber by rejuvenating seals and improving lubrication of the piston rings to prevent oil getting by.

Using one of LIQUI MOLY's anti-friction and wear protection products, together with Motor Oil Saver, can also help in reducing motor oil consumption.

Other possible causes:

1 - Wrong motor oil viscosity or Low quality motor oil

2 - Accumulated sludge in engine chamber / Old motor oil.
